Diplôme de Langue Française   DL
The Diplôme de Langue (DL) assesses the language skills for an advanced level (level B2 at the Council of Europe).
At this stage, the candidate must be able to implement the main French language structures, show good knowledge of vocabulary and use appropriate communication strategies in a number of everyday situations.

THE MAKE UP OF THE DL
The DL consists of 3 group tests lasting 3 hours 30 minutes and an individual one lasting 30 minutes:

» Test 1 (1 hour - 30 points)
Written comprehension I - General comprehension question of a press article.
Written comprehension II - Reconstituting a text, presenting a text’s main ideas, giving a text a title.

» Test 2 (1 hour 15 min - 30 points)
Written expression I – Writing a formal letter in response to an ad.
Written expression II - Argumentation in context.


» Test 3 (45 min - 30 points)
Knowledge of French: lexical and grammatical skills (derived meanings, transformation of language styles, multiple choice questions)

» Test 4 (30 min - 30 points)
Oral comprehension – Questions on several recordings (multiple choice questions, short open questions and text correction)

» Test 5 (30 min - 30 points) individual
Oral expression - Preparation 15 minutes, Oral examination 15 minutes (commentary on an illustrated document—description, narration and reaction to a topic taken at random).
Candidates are eligible at 30% of the points in each individual test.
To pass the DL, the candidate must have a score of 75 out of a total 150 points.
