MEMBERSHIP OF THE AFD
The institution is governed by a committee of influential persons elected
from amongst the members of the Alliance Française de Delhi. Memberships
are granted on a discretionary basis. Memberships can be : Active, Life,
Associate, Expat Diplomat.
These members of the Alliance Française de Delhi get access to the
following:
- Right to attend the Annual General Meeting, and elect the members
of the Governing Body, thereby allowing him a voice in the day-today
functioning of the institution.
- Priority invitations and passes to all cultural events organised by
the institution.
- Access to the library and the auditorium.
A membership form (available at the Front Desk) needs to be filled in and
an annual membership fee deposited, after the membership has been approved
by the membership sub-Committee, where required.
The following two other kinds of membership are also offered namely
:
- Associate Membership (valid date to date and for one year)
- Expat Diplomat Membership (for expatriates only; valid for a period
of 3 years or the duration of stay of the expatriate whichever is less).
Both these memberships enjoy the same privileges as Active and Life Members,
except voting rights.

o Memberships of the Alliance Française de Delhi
allow you to actively participate in its activities and programmes.
o All members receive the Institution’s newsletter and invitations
to most events organized from time to time.
o Active and Life Members also attend an Annual General Meeting held every
year and voice their views at this common forum.
o Every two years elections to the Governing Body are organized and Active
and Life Members can vote and even stand for elections to these posts.
o Active and Life memberships therefore require prior approval of the Governing
Body before their membership is sanctioned.
o Some kinds of memberships however, are granted by the Director of the
Alliance Française on a discretionary basis. These include, Associate
and Expat Diplomat Memberships.
o Active Memberships are valid for a financial year. Associate Memberships
are valid for one year, date to date. Both these memberships need to be
renewed after date of expiry.
o Expat Diplomat memberships are applicable only for non-Indians on deputation
to India and these are valid for a period of three years.
o All memberships enable access to the Institution’s facilities –
library, cafeteria.
o The Alliance Française de Delhi reserves the right to accept or
cancel any membership.
