The pedagogical director: The pedagogical director organizes classes and exams, recruits teachers and staff in agreement with the Director and governing body. The locally recruited personnel is employed on a temporary basis through contract and their contracts are subjected to the laws governing local private work regardless of their nationality. The president of the Governing Body is the one authorized to sign these contracts. The administrative follow-up of the ex-patriate French personnel sent to the Alliance française is done by the Cultural Division of the Embassy of France. The latter also takes charge of the on-going training of this personnel and chooses the methods for doing the same. _ The course coordinator: The course coordinator acts as an assistant to the director in all matters concerning organization of teaching activities. His/Her role is to organize and coordinate the work of the teaching body. He/She thereby takes care of maintaining continuity with respect to academics in the Alliance. Based on this concept, a few of the Alliances have created posts of " student counselors " who are most specifically entrusted with ensuring individualized follow-up of students (as in Madras), or those of cultural assistant (in Delhi, Bombay, Madras, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Poona), or communication in-charge (in Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta), or deputy director (Ahmedabad). _ The teachers: The alliance network employs 250 teachers of French, of which 98% are Indian nationals. However, today, just like the Indian academic scenario, the network faces a crisis situation with respect to the recruitment of fresh qualified teachers of French. For this reason, three regional centers have been named in order to pre-recruit and train new teachers. These centers are Delhi, Madras and Bombay. This entails the constitution of a training plan to which each Alliance in India which may so desire can contribute (mainly practical training, involving classroom teaching, under the guidance of an experienced teacher).
