It maintains relations with the alliances the world over, and bestows
the alliance name if the articles of association of the requesting organization
are in accordance with those fixed by the Alliance française de
Paris. If necessary, the Ministry of External Affairs sends ex-patriate
personnel recruited by it to the Alliance française (delegate general,
directors, international volunteers (volontaires internationaux).
All the certificates and diplomas awarded by the Alliance française
are based on the recommendations of the Council of Europe (Conseil de
l'Europe) and certify language skills which come within the scope of the
frame of reference of the Association of language testers in Europe (ALTE).
These certificates and diplomas are recognized worldwide, in over 130
countries thanks to the Alliance network which is present all over the
world and the exams for the same may be taken in examination centers located
either in France or abroad.
Some of the diplomas that the Alliance awards are those of the French
Ministry of National Education. The school of the Alliance française
thus acts as the examination centre for DELF and DALF exams for the Academy
of Paris, since the Alliances françaises in India are the examination
centers for the country's DELF and DALF exams. DELF and DALF are nationally
recognized diplomas that certify levels of proficiency, skills and mastery
over the French language in the case of foreigners. These diplomas consist
of cumulative credits and may be obtained either in France or abroad.
These are awarded by the Rectorate of the Academy of Paris to the students
who have secured all the credits of the elected diploma.
Amongst other certificates & diplomas whose exams are conducted by
the Alliance française are those given by the Chamber of Commerce
and Industry of Paris. They test the candidate's aptitude to utilize French
in various spheres of professional life and at different levels. The 'Test
d'Evaluation de Français' (Assessment Test of French) (TEF), on
the other hand, is very specific in sofar as it allows a candidate to
obtain a rather accurate estimation of his level in general French within
a very short span of time.
